Effective date: September 23, 2026
CIDP Tracker helps people with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) keep track of their symptoms and treatments. Health information is personal, so this policy explains exactly what happens to yours.
Everything you log is stored on your device. If you choose to, you can share your log anonymously to help research into CIDP. Sharing is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time. Your data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to track you.
Your symptom scores, treatments, stress and mood, sleep, activity, lifestyle entries, and notes are saved on your iPhone. There is no account and no sign-in. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.
If you allow it, CIDP Tracker reads your sleep, steps, and exercise minutes from Apple Health, and calories eaten if you turn calorie tracking on. It never writes anything to Apple Health. You can change or remove this access at any time in the Health app. Data read from Apple Health is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared except as part of the optional research sharing described below.
CIDP is rare, and the day-to-day experience of living with it is poorly documented. With your permission, CIDP Tracker can send a copy of your log to us so that patterns can be studied across many people, with the aim of helping researchers understand the condition and, we hope, speed up better treatments and a cure.
It is opt-in. Nothing is shared unless you turn on research sharing in the app and confirm that you agree. You must be 18 or older to take part.
What is shared: the entries in your log (symptom scores, treatment type, dates and doses, stress and mood, sleep, steps, exercise, and any lifestyle items you track), together with a random identifier created on your device and the app version. The random identifier lets entries from the same person be linked together without revealing who that person is.
What is never shared: your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, your device's advertising identifier, or the free-text notes you write, since notes could contain personal details.
How it is used: to study patterns in CIDP symptoms and treatment across the people who take part. We may share de-identified data, or findings based on it, with medical researchers, universities, and patient organisations working on CIDP, only for research purposes and only under agreements that forbid any attempt to identify individuals. We will never sell your data or share it with advertisers, data brokers, insurers, or employers.
How anonymous is it? The shared data contains nothing that names you. Detailed health records can, in rare cases, be linked back to someone when combined with other information, so we limit who can access the data and forbid anyone we share it with from trying.
Changing your mind: you can turn research sharing off at any time in the app, and nothing more will be sent. To have data you already shared deleted, email us your research identifier, which the app shows in Settings, and we will delete it within 30 days. Data already included in published aggregate findings cannot be removed from them.
Shared data is encrypted while it is sent and while it is stored, and access is limited to the people who need it for this research. We keep shared data for as long as it is useful for research into CIDP, or until you ask us to delete it.
There are no ads, no third-party advertising or analytics trackers, and no in-app purchases. CIDP Tracker does not track you across other apps or websites.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you, or to object to its use. Email us to exercise any of these rights. Because the app has no accounts, we will ask for your research identifier so we can find your data.
Research sharing is only available to adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
CIDP Tracker is a personal log, not a medical device. It does not diagnose or treat any condition. Always talk to your doctor before changing your treatment.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If a change affects what is shared, the app will ask for your permission again before sharing anything.
